About Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva Temple

One of the ancient Shiva temples in Kerala near Kodungallur (Cranganore), one of the earliest ports of South Asia. This temple is believed to date back to the Sangam age and is mentioned in ancient Tamil Sangam poetry. Historically significant as Kodungallur was the capital of the Chera kingdom and one of the most cosmopolitan ports of the ancient world.
