About Papanasam Siva Temple
A Paadal Petra Sthalams on the south bank of the Cauvery river. The name Papanasam means "destroyer of sins." A sacred river bathing ghat here is considered especially powerful for removing sins and ancestral curses. The Amavasai (new moon) bathing ritual on the Cauvery here draws thousands of pilgrims.
