About Oachira Parabrahma Temple

One of the rarest temples in India — there is no idol, no sanctum, no priest performing puja in the traditional sense. Devotees worship the open field as the manifestation of Parabrahman (the formless Absolute). A massive open ground with small mounds and trees is the entire temple. The annual Ochira Kali (battle re-enactment) is one of the most unique rituals in Kerala.

Visitor Tips

An extraordinary philosophical experience — worship without an idol; the Ochira Kali festival (June) is a rare ritual re-enactment; the open field temple is unlike anything else in India.
