About Mahabalipuram Shore Temple

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 8th-century Pallava granite temple stands on the shore of the Bay of Bengal and is one of the oldest stone-built temples in South India. It contains three shrines — two for Shiva and one for the reclining Vishnu (Sthalasayana Perumal). The temple complex with its sculptures and the Five Rathas chariot temples together form one of India's greatest ancient sites.
