About Chamundeshwari Temple (Mysore)

Perched atop the Chamundi Hills overlooking the royal city of Mysore, this ancient Shakti temple is the presiding deity of the Mysore royal family. The goddess slew the demon Mahishasura here — the city of Mysore is named after him. The Dasara festival celebrated here is one of India's grandest.
