About Banavasi Madhukeshwara Temple
One of the oldest temples in Karnataka (4th century CE), this was the capital of the first Kadamba dynasty. The Madhukeshwara temple is built in the early Kadamba-Nagara style on the banks of the Varada river. Associated with the Tamil poet Pampa (Adipampa), author of the earliest Kannada Mahabharata.
