About Sri Arthanareeswarar Temple

One of the very rare temples in India dedicated to Arthanareeswarar — the form of Shiva that is half-male and half-female, representing the union of Shiva and Parvati. Located on a 1000-foot hill. The right half represents Shiva (male) and the left half Parvati (female). A deeply philosophical form of the divine that is rarely enshrined separately.
